Jim Norton

Jim Norton was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. He was educated in glass art both at the Pilchuk Glass School in Stanwood, Washington State, and at the Alberta College of Art in Calgary. Norton has operated Double Struggle Studio for over seventeen years, and teaches part time at the Alberta College of Art and Design. He has participated in nearly a hundred exhibitions in Canada and the United States since 1980 and has won several awards for design. His work has been included in many publications--most notably, he has an entry in 'The Survey of Glass of the World' by the Kyuryudo Art Publishing Company of Tokyo, Japan. His pieces belong to several permanent and private collections nationally and internationally; the city of Calgary purchased his work as gifts for former Governor General of Canada Ray Hnatyshyn and for Queen Elizabeth of England.
