| Steve Robinson
Steve Robinson was born in Blackpool, England. He obtained a bachelor degree in fine arts in 1979 from the University of Manitoba, focussing on painting and drawing. It was not until 1985 that Robinson began working in Raku, and in 1996 he had his first solo exhibition of sculptural raku work entitled "Cutting through the Shield"--his tribute to the "beauty, power and strength" of the Canadian Shield. Robinson's primary inspiration is the "mother rock" of the earth; in 1997 he travelled to Africa to sketch and study rock formations, resulting in a body of work that compares and contrasts the African Shield with the Canadian Shield. Robinson's work is represented in galleries across Canada and in private collections around the world. He is currently located in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
